The MATERIA Research Group of the Miguel Hernández University participates in the curation of a group exhibition in India with works by a total of 18 artists. The activity took place on April 21 and 22 at the KIIT School of Law, KIIT University, in Bhubaneswar, India, as part of the activities of the 4th IACLSC International Biennial Exhibition on Religion and Interculturalism.

For this reason, CIA researchers from the University Miguel Hernandez, researchers from the University of Valencia, the University of Granada, the University of the Basque Country and the University of Salamanca, together with other national and international freelance artists, show the results of their latest art research at the international exhibition titled Relegere.

The exhibition includes two works by each of the 18 artists selected in the association’s public call: Ana Maya León, Amparo Alepuz, Daniel Tejero, Elia Torrecilla, Emilio Luis Fernández, Eugene Hyon, Imma Mengual, Jose Luis Lozano, DeAlbacete, Lourdes Santamaría, Mar Sueiras, María Jesús Cueto, Maria José Zanón, Natividad Navalón, Pilar Catalán, Pilar Viviente, Teresa Chafer and Vicente Barón.

The works (painting, sculpture, photography) are presented in the exhibition hall of the KIIT School of Law, KIIT University, authorized by the university for this purpose, and later in a permanent online exhibition from May 2023.

Relegere (Read Again) addresses the social and cultural dimensions of religion and interculturalism, while bridging cultures, connecting distinct and distant traditions with different cultural concepts and values. The artists participating in the Relegere exhibition contribute with their works so that, from the intercultural aspect of our society, cultural concepts and the constructive values ​​of cultures are presented and preserved in a different way from the past.

The exhibition has been organized by Professor Sarat Kumar Jena, director of the IACLSC educational research center, International Association of Comparative Literature, Society and Culture, and Professor María Pilar Viviente Solé, IACLSC General Secretary and director of the exhibition. Likewise, the exhibition has been curated by the IACLSC and the MATERIA Research Group, CÍA, UMH, Elche, Spain.

The following images are of the artworks displayed by the 18 distinguished artist participants in the 4th IACLSC Biennial International Conference Exhibition entitled R E L E G E R E. These international artists have contributed works that embody and reflect a wide variety of artistic periods, schools, and styles, from Romanesque and Renaissance to Neoclassicism, Symbolism, Cubism, Abstract Expressionism, Arte Povere, Photorealism, and myriad variations and modes of Contemporary Art. Rather than offering an attempt to define or categorize each artist’s work according to a specific style, period, or school of Art, this review displays “viewer comments.” Included below are the musings of a charmed and captivated viewer of these exemplary artworks. – Ellen L Gilmer

Artist: Pilar Viviente – Pilar’s celebrated and acclaimed “I Am Violet” painting from her stellar Rodete Project. Quoting the artist, “Rods (Rodetes) are portals to healing. We can heal through art. Rods are golds. Magenta is my aura right now. This is my frequency.”
